Q : Tell us a little bit about your Climatology passion, where and how it all started?
When I was just a small girl, I had a fascination with clouds. I recalls looking up into the sky and observing the uniqueness of each billowy formation, they seemed magical then, but not anymore. Today I understands the science behind the remarkable beauty and sometimes frightening appearance of those cotton like configurations floating in the atmosphere
During my high school years, I excelled in science. Many of my teachers encouraged me to consider a career in medicine, but my fascination had always been the atmosphere and all things related to it. If anything I thought the Earth was in need of a doctor, and I was happy to fulfill that need. Climatology would be calling me.
Then I completed a 4-year degree in meteorological science with a concentration in climatology at Princeton University. Princeton’s school of geosciences has been recognized internationally for its work on global warming. While studying at Princeton, I became acutely aware of the threat which the phenomenon is now posing to the Earth’s ecosystem.
Q : Can you please tell our readers which one is more beneficent for us, Solar energy or Electrical energy?
There are many more benefits with solar energy than fossil fuel or electric energy. With solar energy being so much higher in the class of saving it is very wise to keep solar panels on stock versus other forms of less efficient energy. The world is better with solar panels because the sun has always been shining and doesn’t look like it will be slowing down anytime soon. With the sun’s powerful rays anything is possible and everything is possible when it comes down to saving with energy. The number one thing with solar rays is that they never stop and can always keep your home full of energy.
Q : Which aspects of your job you enjoys most?
Much of my work involves creating advanced computer models of the region’s weather. One of the aspects of my job which I most enjoys is hosting school field trips. School children from grade school to high school are encouraged to participate in open house trips to the NWS’s Upton facility. During these outings, the youngsters get introduced to the world of climatology. I feels that this sort of outreach is critical at this time because it is their generation that will likely be challenged most by climate change. So I comes to this well-informed conclusion as a result of my research and training.
Q : Nice, Do you have any advice for aspiring leaders, in the field ?
First of all, I would tell them “Bravo!” Then I would tell them to get a good education in the field. That is imperative. I can’t speak for any other fields of study, but for my particular field, I doubt that you could do better than my Alma Mater, New South Wales.
Q : Awesome, Do you think water waste reduction help the world?
The world is covered with more water than land. Even though that is a fact we should still try to keep all bodies of water free of waste and contaminating substances. With the waters clear people can drink safely. Safe drinking is key for vital health and other important factors. With water waste reduction costs will stay low. With lower cost of water people don’t have to go thirsty as some do in third world countries. Water should easily be accessible to every person who wants a drink. It is literally the element of life itself. Without water we couldn’t sustain life on earth. That means everything we know and love probably wouldn’t exist. Unless you just like rocks and nothingness water is needed forever so keeping waste reduction is very important.
Q : Great, what’s your point of view about an ideal design and development future?
I always give the same primary advice to all of my clients: Innovation and forward-looking operations is always the way to proceed. I firmly believe that. An ideal future as far as design and development are concerned. I can’t tell you how exactly it will look like, but I do know that the companies that come out on top in that regard are companies that have thought many, many years ahead of where they were. I really believe that those companies that win in the future are those companies that have long developed the ability to read the far future.
Q : Okay, Why do you choose to go into the environmental area in the first place?
I was raised to take environmentalism seriously. It was a result of that. However, it was during my university years that this taking “seriously” thing become way more so. More like a passion that has driven my life. And photovoltaic engineering, solar energy — that became my future, my being. Still is.
